FAQs

All your top-of-mind questions, answered.

What is CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, in simplest terms, is an evidence-based therapy that centers on the idea that our thoughts determine our emotions and behavior. (The more negative our thoughts are, the more it causes us distress.)

As a CBT therapist, we target thoughts and behaviors using a variety of techniques to help break irrational, unhealthy thinking and behavioral patterns in order to create more functional, healthy ones.

We can start taking care of your brain together through CBT here.

Is CBT proven to be effective?

CBT therapy is considered evidence-based. This means that the techniques have been verified through decades of research using randomized clinical trials. It has been shown to be effective for a variety of disorders including anxiety, depression, OCD, and eating disorders.

What kind of treatment plan should I expect?

In addition to evidence-based CBT treatment, I provide a treatment plan that will include diet and nutrition, lifestyle factors, and physical movement.

There is power in focusing on ways to build mental health wellness through small habits as much as there is in decreasing psychological and behavioral symptoms.

How does the treatment plan work?

Treatment plans are designed depending on your motivation for change, the severity of symptoms, level of functioning, and willingness.

In order to make progress, I will recommend a treatment plan that intends to address the source of the issues. I find that a client’s flexibility with the length and frequency of sessions works effectively to assist in the process of change.

For which mental health conditions do you specialize in?

I specialize in the evidence-based treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders (e.g., generalized, social, panic, health, and phobias), and depressive disorders while also having extensive knowledge and experience in the treatment of perfectionism, trichotillomania (hair-pulling), and excoriation (skin-picking), Additionally, I have experience treating body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) and have published literature on this topic.

Do you take insurance?

We do not take insurance at this time. We will provide you with an invoice at the end of the month should you wish to submit it to your specific insurance carrier so you can receive reimbursement.

How can we work together?

There are two ways we can take care of your brain together.

1:1 Psychotherapy Sessions
A series of psychological consultations that fuses CBT and lifestyle modifications—designed with you in mind.
New patients will begin with a psychiatric evaluation to assess their past and current mental health symptoms and presentation, and discuss the best therapeutic treatment options best suited to them.

Building Mental Health
A course to help you learn the foundations, habits, and strategies (plus the science behind them) so you can create sustainable and long-term positive mental health changes.
This course provides comprehensive, accessible information which can be used as a supplementary resource to improve your mental health wellness, but it should not be treated as therapy.
